Noosa in Winter is wonderful for many reasons and here are a few –

  • the weather
  • outdoor actvities
  • relaxed and not so busy
  • restaurants
  • live jazz events

Winter days are ideal to enjoy being outdoors without the humidity and heat of summer. On offer are many outdoor activities such as walks along the beach, the river and maybe include a ferry trip along the Noosa River from Hastings Street to Tewantin. Join the many locals who love to get out at sunrise, or a bit later, and after a walk along the terrace or beachfront stop to enjoy a coffee. You will be spoilt for choice and all offering a tasty brew with a little something on the side.

Walking the National Park is a favourite of many visitors to take in the stunning views from Main Beach through to Sunshine Beach. There is a convenient local bus route that can take you back or all the way to Peregian Beach and back again. The view alone is worth the trip.

There are less visitors in Winter bringing a more relaxed environment and making it easier to travel around. Take a trip to the Hinterland and visit one of the many galleries, cafes or local arts and crafts shops. Here it is easy to meet the maker, have a chat and maybe purchase something memorable to take home.

Live jazz events – come in winter and be a part of Noosa’s unique jazz festival. In 2024 the Noosa Heads Jazz Club is celebrating their 30th year – quite an achievement! The events on offer are curated to offer something for everyone – live jazz is the centrepiece of every event. The celebrations begin with a magnificent opening concert on Thursday 22nd August – ‘All That Jazz’. The Australian Jazz Ensemble and The Noosa Chorale are combining to present this magnificent collaboration of voices and music. The festival continues with concerts indoors and outdoors, river cruises, lunches, sunset events and dinner events and all coming to a close with an outdoor concert in the park on the 1st of September.

Food – enjoy lunch in one of the many outdoor venues or a picnic in the park. Dress it up a bit for evening and choose from so many venues offering a wide range of different cuisines from upmarket to casual. Local markets offer a good starting place to see and try what the Noosa region has to offer from the local providores. Most cafes and restaurants make a point of showcasing local and fresh on their menus.

Many hotels and resorts offer off-peak season discounts and this makes Winter a more affordable time to stay. The Islander Noosa Resort is a valued sponsor of the Noosa Heads Jazz Club and provides our visiting musicians with their accommodation during the Jazz Festival.

Visit Noosa has all you need to know about activities, where to go to make the most of your stay in Noosa and all types of accommodation.
